Gem Bridge is a brand new bridge built over the Walkham valley, between Tavistock and Horrabridge. Before, you would have had to cycle down a steep slope until you got to the bottom of the valley, where you would have crossed the river Walkham by using a stepped wooden bridge, before pushing or dragging your bike up a very steep and muddy path on the other side of the valley. Gem Bridge is built on the site of the wooden railway viaduct built by Brunel himself. |
