Going Dutch

The post just below shows the UK way of creating and running ads to keep people safer on the road. It places all responsibility on the pedestrian and cyclist, allowing car drivers to get away without any sense of responsibility at all.

The Dutch do things differently, and significantly better: this video is part of a campaign called “Drive with your heart”.

The audio tells us that cars have all sorts of safety components, such as airbags. It goes on to say cars have one safety component to protect people outside the car: the driver.

Clearly this emphasises how much responsibility a driver carries, and it is refreshing to see how more vulnerable road users don’t have to shoulder all responsibility.
