Wild Atlantic Way – Day 2

Though this is Day 2, it is actually the first day of proper cycling.

More trains!

My day started with a bike ride to the station, to catch a train to Cork city. The real cycling started from there, but it was still a short day.

I just made it onto the 09:00 train from Heuston station to Cork. Once in Cork, i was met off the train by SuziQ – the 1st woman who did a SheCycles post.

Cork

Suzi is every bit as lovely in real life as she is on Twitter, and you’d be wise to follow her there.

I was invited to join in with the Bicycle Republic Bike Bop in Cork. Basically, it’s like a critical mass ride with music, and it was a laugh. I was amazed by how patient and supportive drivers were!

They are led by a really good guy, Tom Hennessy, so give him a follow, too.

Kinsale

It was past 4pm before I finally set off for Kinsale. Originally, I was planning on camping there, but that would have been too short a day, so I rode on, after having some food, for another several miles.

I found a lovely field to pitch my tent in, and settled down for the night.

Competition!

To be in with a chance of winning John Devoy’s fantastic book, Quondam, you need to answer all the questions that I post on a daily basis.

Today’s question is actually three questions rolled into one: What is the total cyclable length, (in kilometres) of the Wild Atlantic Way, and name its southerly beginning, as well as its northerly end?
