The Spirit Of Adventure

Hello again,

I've been rather busy! By the time you received this newsletter, I'll be cycling my Cheshire Ring route, with some mates. The Cheshire Ring's a canal-boating route that follows a roughly triangular loop, using 6 different canals. I do enjoy a good canal cycling adventure, but my route doesn't exclusively stick to the canals.

I also started making some books by hand. They're A6 size, to fit into pockets easier, and are bound in a cork-based, vegan-friendly cover. These are available for sale on WillCycle.com. I call these Adventure Journals and they're intended to help you keep notes, or sketches, while on a cycling adventure, and I'm very pleased with the first one I made.
To be completely honest, I doubt I'll sell many of these, but at the same time, I expect those who do get themselves one will really like it.

The winner of April's T-shirt Giveaway is Gazza_D - congratulations, and I hope you like your T-shirt. Entries have dropped massively, so I decided to make April's Giveaway the last one.
Before you get upset about that, I may have some news just for newsletter subscribers, so watch this space.

I'm on the new Road.cc podcast that should be out round about the same time as the next edition of this newsletter, so go have a listen.

That's enough from my side - how are you? What adventures are you planning? What funny, or sad stories do you have to share with us?
Simply reply to this email and tell me all.

Will you be brave enough to click the Blast From The Past button, and see what old WillCycle post it takes you to?

The Good News

Cancer is an awful disease, but a new drug being developed to fight pancreatic cancer specifically is showing enormous potential.
Under trial for 8 years already, it has been shockingly effective at eliminating pancreatic cancer cells.

Did You Know...?

You love riding your bike, right? In fact, we can probably say you need your bike. But does your bike need you?
Bicycles don't need a rider to remain upright, provided they travel at 8mph or faster. As you'd expect, there's more to it than just this.

What Did You Miss On WillCycle?

I've reduced this section to just the last 2 blog posts, to declutter the newsletter a bit

Adventure Journal

The  WillCycle  Adventure  Journal I'm excited to announce the WillCycle Adventure Journal. What's an Adventure Journal, you ask? It's a small book that you are meant to take with you on adventures, to make notes in. Some of my best thinking's been done on the bike, and I expect that may be true for you, too. That's why I tend …

WillCycle Adventure Fund Entries

WillCycle Adventure Fund Entries
Here are the entries to the WillCycle Adventure Fund. For obvious reasons, I've removed people's names from the entries. Voting is now open, and on the 9th of May I'll announce the winner. I will never repeat the WillCycle Adventure Fund, as entry numbers were disappointingly low. Still, we have a total of £95 raised to give to a lucky …

Random Internet Link

New feature! I'll be including a Random Internet Link in each newsletter.

For obvious reasons, I won't hide where the link takes you behind a button, like I do with Blast From The Past. You know Blast From The Past is safe, as it only ever points at WillCycle. If it helps, obviously I've visited the link below on my own laptop, and I take information security rather seriously.

Ever wondered what an image you can infinitely zoom in might be like? Of course you have. Well, wonder no more! Simply visit https://zoomquilt.org, then sit back and watch. And no, I have no idea why that site was made!

Will's Unexpected Bike Hack

Summer is coming, and sweltering hot days are just around the corner. The night before a ride, fill one water bottle two thirds of the way, then stick it in the freezer overnight. Before heading out on your bike, fill the bottle with water.

The ice will slowly start to melt as soon as you add tap water, but you will have cold water for a surprisingly long time on your ride.

Do you have any hacks to share? Well then, don't be shy! Simply reply to this email.
