The Spirit Of Adventure
I'm not superstitious at all, and the number 13 has no good, or bad meanings to me. However, I don't know if any of you are superstitious. If so, I've no idea if you noticed that the previous newsletter was Number 13, but I deliberately didn't point it out, just in case you were superstitious.

I'm trying to fit in another leisure ride before the seasons turn - this time closer to home: I'll be cycling from Penzance to Plymouth, in September, over three days. My route tries to stick to the coast as much as reasonably possible.

If you know anything about Cornwall, you'll know that it's rather hilly, and any cycle route sticking to the coast is hillier still. As a result, I've no doubt I'll suffer a bit, but it'll be worth it.

The plan is to cycle the 94 miles over three days, wild camping (as ever) along the way. This will again be a Travelling Ouballies ride (go on - click the link and find out what it's about) meaning it's an open invite ride. You'd be most welcome to join me on a 1st come, 1st served basis - I'll limit the group to max 5, and there are already 2 of us.

So, think you know your way around the world, do you? Well then, sign up for GeoGuesser - a game that challenges you to identify where in the world the random place it picked is. You'll be dropped in a random place, and shown Streetview images, then have to guess where on a map you are.
You can limit it to just parts of the world, if you're not up for the full challenge.

Will's Unexpected Bike Hack
I uhm'd and aah'd about this one for a while, but sod it - you're all grown-ups, aren't you? Cyano-acrylate (that's superglue, to most people) is amazing stuff. I carry some in my first-aid kit. The reason for that is simple: superglue bonds instantly with skin. This means superglue is an excellent way to seal an open cut.
There are serious Ts & Cs that apply, starting with you'll do so entirely at your own risk, and for legal purposes, I'd actually suggest that you don't use it.
It has a secondary purpose, too, and one that comes with a warning: you can use cyano-acrylate as an emergency fire-starter. Simply splash some of the stuff onto cotton, and soon there will be flames. Obviously, this means you need to ensure it cannot leak onto any cotton you may have in your first-aid kit, and that you should always use it with care.
