The Spirit Of Adventure

Hello again!

I'm getting nervous, but also excited for my Wild Atlantic Way ride now. This is the last edition of the Spirit of Adventure before I set off. What that means is the next two newsletters you'll receive I've already written, to reduce how much time I need to spend on this when out riding.

I am taking a 7" tablet along, to do daily posts from the road on, and will try to do an update of each day's riding. Normally, I take notes (old-school, using pen and paper) when cycle touring, and will do so again. Those notes will for the basis of a more detailed few posts I'll do after the ride, while the daily updates will probably be rather brief.

However, each daily update will contain a question about Ireland. Those questions are part of a competition I'm running in partnership with John Devoy, the author of Quondam. The prize is a signed copy of his incredibly good book, and I wish you the best of luck in the competition!

Remember, I'll be live-sharing my (glacial) progress, and I'd be delighted if you would follow my adventure by dot-watching.

May all the ferries you use to cross the sea always only ever experience calm waters!
Will

The Blast From The Past button is quite straightforward: with every edition, I link a random old WillCycle post to it. If you click it, you will see what old WillCycle post it takes you to.
The button will only ever point at WillCycle.

The Good News

The largest-ever trial of a 4-day work week was conducted in the UK recently. The trial involved 61 different companies, and 2 900 staff members taking part.
The result was such a success that most of the companies plan to continue the 4-day work week. Oh, that's a 4-day work week without any reduction in pay, by the way!
The results include staff with reduced stress and reduced illness. Most of the companies also improved their profitability during the trial.

Did You Know...?

You can spell the words "upside down" using normal, right-way up letters, and still write it upside down?

What Did You Miss On WillCycle?

Competition - with a twist

During my upcoming Irish Adventure, mostly following the Wild Atlantic Way, I'll have the good fortune of meeting John Devoy, and spending time with him. In fact, we'll do a short stint of cycling together. John has been on numerous adventures in his life, and he wrote book about his biggest adventure. He cycled from his native Ireland to to …

Some things really resonated with visitors to the site. Some of those were expected: my Crash Card post and my highly detailed guide …
