Lagan and Lough Cycleway cycle route

Lagan and Lough Cycleway overall rating: ⭐⭐⭐

The Lagan and Lough Cycleway is a (mostly) traffic-free route, running from Jordanstown, though Belfast, to Lisburn. There are some segments along busier roads, but on shared pavements alongside the road. There are also several short segments along (normally) quiet roads.

The route shown on the map has a bit added on (specifically the Newtownabbey Way), and starts at Mossley Mill, making it 23.6 miles long. This route offers stunning sea views, and blissful canal-side cycling,

Toilets

There are toilets at the start, 4.2 miles in (but slightly off the trail, in Hazelbank Park), various places in Belfast, and again in Lisburn (but not directly on the path).

You will cycle right past the docks where the Titanic was launched from. Also consider visiting HMS Caroline.

Barriers

I’m not aware of any barriers along the route. However, there are a few narrow bridges where cyclists should dismount. Trikes and most cargo bikes may not be able to get through.
